  1. Good to see Mark D back. And really think that the one under the submarine will rock. Can’t wait for season 9. Hope it is the best ever! Tani needs to tell Steve. He has her back and she should be upfront and honest. Hope Adam does not turn to be the big bad.

  2. Why would Tani tell Steve? She’s a woman and don’t all the women on the show lie and cheat ? But I suspect she will get a “pass” on this behavior from this the fandom because……………..she is no threat to anyone’s favored ship. For now. Still, she is a daughter of Eve so that explains everything.

I miss Mark Dacascos and am so happy to see him, if only in a flashback/hallucination.

PL says we are going to meet a former CIA girl friend (Greer) of McGarrett way back when he was still in uniform. Unfortunately, he says she is a baddie and can’t be trusted, so I am glad Steve still has a (male) dog. She seems to pre-date Cath whom it appears he met after this one. The character was in the original epi with Jack Lord but I think she was a hippie or something. It appears she is gone after two episodes anyway. Jenny Feldman is still MIA.

I think I am going to enjoy Cocoon. For many, many reasons.

  3. I’m not all that excited about Cocoon to be honest. If McG is wearing that stupid suit the whole time, where you can neither see his face or his bod, why frickin bother? We all watch for McG. I wanna actually SEE McG, and hear his voice, and SEE him! It’s probably the stunt guy most of this episode. 🙄

  4. It looks like an interesting episode. I can only assume Wo Fat is a flashback unless PL is rewriting history again. It will be nice to see Mark again either way.

  5. I wrote this before, but I think it is lost in the cloud somewhere. This is as best as I can reconstruct it.

Forget about the latex suit. The real enjoyment will be watching the fandom implode if there is a certain friskiness between old lovers? who are remembering the past. The McDannos will condemn McGarrett for cheating on Danny and the McLynns will condemn him for cheating on Lynn even though he admits their relationship is only “casual” and our leader says she is not in McG’s future. Cath will be forgotten temporarily since this will be seen as proof that he had a prior relationship with another woman. (I certainly hope he had a lot of practice before he met Cath).

McRolls can make popcorn, pour the wine, sit back and watch the two factions try to obliterate each other. We already know that McRoll is endgame.

    Enjoy the ride!

    1. I like McLynn and I don’t get why I am supposed to get upset about an old love of Steve? Hu?
And McWhateverhername is does not have to be pre-Cath. Cath and Steve had a break in their relationship. Remember Billy?
All in all I am not that impressed with this story. Another CIA woman messes with Steve… Oy….

      1. Liking McLynn is fine. I don’t get it but that doesn’t mean it is not valid for some people. Just not me.

It is when the obsession with her is not based on what her character brings to the table but solely because she is not Cath that makes me question why some people think she is worthy of McGarrett. Even the EP doesn’t see her as a long term answer to Steve’s loneliness and desire for a family. Why should I?

Disliking Cath for what some believe she did or did not do to make Steve unhappy is also fine with me. We all can look at the end of 603 and reach our own conclusions.

I would rather see him with a kick ass brunette like Cath than a ditzy blonde like Lynn in need of saving ,and a good hairdresser who….. will….. sit….. her….. down….. and….. talk to…… her….. about….. that….. hair.

I may dye my hair brown in solidarity.

        1. You’ve hit the nail on the head. It’s like the people who went all in to ship McG and Ellie. Um.. based on what exactly? (It’s OK, I know what that is based on)

It’s been all tell and no show with Lynn, so – to the people who ship that, OK, I suspect that the real reason some LOOOOVVVEE her is because if she is dating him. then there is no chance that Cath will be back in the picture. I think Peter feels the same way, but for different reasons.

She’s a placeholder and nothing more, She exists so that PL doesn’t have to write anything about love interests until he’s ready to write what he has planned. I could be wrong, but I don’t think so.

          1. You are not wrong. McRoll is his plan but not until CBS tells him that there is no more H50. Every show which finally puts the two lovers together permanently seems to tank when the will they or won’t they is answered. So no endgame for anyone, including Rachel and Danny ( unless my lit candles are working) until there is an endgame for the show. Then we get the McRoll wedding and the John, Joe and Freddie triplets.

I would not be shocked if the network has are already signaled that it is time to reboot JAG so NCIS can return the favor and exit as it reintroduces the show that introduced it. Maybe JAG Hawaii? I think maybe there is a different show runner for that.

Or there can be a spin off of “Kamekona’s Place-Fine Dinning And the Home of Spam Marinara!”

There was no McEllie, McLynn is McToast as per the EP so that leaves McRoll or McDanno. Odds, anyone?

  6. I saw some of the old ‘Cocoon’ and stopped because I didn’t want to be spoiled. But I am really looking forward to this season opener. Alex will rock his scenes! It was a McG centric episode and I hope they didn’t mess with it too much. I don’t want to hear any “mimimi”, “nonono”, “let the case miraculously solve itself on its own”.
Looking forward to a “Bye bye and Cook’em Danno!”

      1. I am afraid Scott will be in this episode and all the McDannos fans are all waiting to see the rescue of Steve by Danny but hopefully won’t in as much usually

  7. Looking forward to seeing this episode might turn out to be the best of the season you never know. Alex will rock his scenes in the Torturous Sensory Deprivation Tank and all the scene before and after this will make the episode good. About his Ex Peter said she is the big bad women in only the first 2 episodes unless she come back later in the season if they don’t kill her or catch her in the episode 9.02.

  8. Wow I can’t wait to see this episode it will be so very good. I wonder if Greer knows Catherine right now. Steve belongs with Catherine. If this person Greer is someone that Steve dated I wonder will he have to take her down. JUST THINKING

  9. The story line between Tani and Adam gun will drag on as Ian has not arrived in Hawaii or been on set for season 9 yet and they have nearly finished filming 9.05 this week. Adam could show up in the 200 episode 9.07 which I hope we don’t get his story for that episode

  10. I’m side eyeing HARD at the “Tani wrestles with whether or not she will tell McGarrett about the murder weapon she found at Adam’s house,”

Can we please just arrest Adam again and sentence him to a life not on this show anymore?

  11. I believe Freddie must have known Greer during his and Steve’s Navy days. Because of what he told Steve regarding Cath. “SHE’S the Real Deal”

    1. It appears that Greer is a composite character. I was confused by how the character was described as being, i.e. a former gf of McGarrett when he was in the Navy, who is now CIA and betrays him. It appears that the gf from the original “Cocoon” was a hippie (actress Nancy Kwan) . The agent who betrayed him was a man with a different name so the part of Greer being from McG’s romantic past is a new twist (reboot?) on the original. All we have been told is that she is a baddie.

I expect the superfans to start shipping McGreer since McLynn is no longer viable.

  12. “The character was in the original epi with Jack Lord but I think she was a hippie or something. ”

The hippie played by Nancy Kwan was the GF of original McGarrett’s “intelligence” pal Hennessey who got knocked off in the original pilot’s teaser and his body ended up dumped on a beach. I dunno how much Hennessey there is in the “revitalized” Cocoon, though his name is on at least one of the script pages that someone sent me.

Although the scenes in the cocoon (sensory deprivation chamber) look very similar to the original from pictures “leaked” so far, I fear that the episode will be filled with the usual stupidity, aside from Tani wringing her hands over Adam’s “murder weapon.” One of the script pages from early on in the show seemed to have a discussion between Grover and Danno regarding some shovels, though there is a large “X” across this.

A big deal is made in the press release about how the show “was written by the late Leonard Freeman, creator of the original ‘Hawaii Five-O,’ and current executive producer Peter M. Lenkov.”

Despite the fact there are potential spoilers, you might want to check out my revised page for the old show’s pilot which I have slaved over for the last couple of weeks. There are some screen shots to compare to the new show.
