  1. And a Merry Christmas to you! One of the best gifts I have gotten over several years, is the gift of Mostly Five 0. Thank you for all your hard work to keep it up and running!

  3. I went to Church today and I want to share with all of you what was another memorable service. The Church was beautiful, full of evergreens and Poinsettias on the Altar and happy children with combed hair and fancy clothes. Things went down hill fast.

First the vocalist lost her place singing “Come all Ye Faithful” and jumped a few verses causing the rest of us to take a stab where we thought we should be singing. Unfortunately most people couldn’t agree so everyone did their own thing including the organist who thought it was as good time any to jump in since he had no idea what was going on. He tried to cover by blaring the horn feature on the organ but that only made things worse especially when the star on top of the pipes started to spin wildly and people were further distracted. A new Christmas Carol was born today. Hallelujah. We have only to choose a name. So, it was with a sigh of relief (loudly from me) when the vocalist threw in the towel and took her seat. At this point I am now giggling uncontrollably and my husband is giving me that “come on, grow up” look, which I ignore because Church is supposed to be uplifting and not hilarious unless I am there. I am sure God has a sense of humor.

Finally my daughter and her family are asked to bring up the gifts and she turns to me and asks if she took all the tags off the new jacket I bought her for Christmas. There she is flapping her arms so I can check causing me to lose control again. She looked like she was trying to find the runway to take off. Now my husband is seriously side eyeing me wondering if I am ever going to reach dignified maturity when I am seized by a sneezing fit which only seems to happen in Church. My husband thinks that God is expelling the “sillies” from me but since the roof was still intact when I left the Church, I think I am safe so I will now take a nap.

    Laughing can be exhausting.

    • Merry Christmas. I do believe God has a sense of humor. We went to Christmas Eve services and my granddaughter was thrilled and amazed that we had a live nativity. As we were leaving at the end she discovered that “baby Jesus” was being carried out right behind us. She wanted to know if they would have to walk all the way home since we had explained Joseph and Mary did not have a car back in those days. Out of the mouths of babes….it gives you a new view on the holiday. We didn’t have the heart to tell her this baby Jesus was actually a girl.

    • i know I am late to the party, but you had me laughing out loud, mamayorkie. I am certain that God has a sense of humor… he puts up with all of us, doesn’t he?

  4. Merry Christmas, and happy holidays, everyone! I hope all of you have had a wonderful winter holiday, whatever one you celebrate. This year has brought me a renewed sense of the importance of family, and a new appreciation for the happiness that can be found in doing things for others. Thanks so much to Sam, Cokie, and LeiCa for all you do to make this a happy, fun place. I don’t post much, but I love reading all the reviews, “pics” and comments from all of you. Wishing you all a wonderful New Year. May you all enjoy good health, plenty of Internet, and lots of Steve on your TVs.
